Significance and Expected Outcomes of the Project
Youth-led Approach to Address Climate and Environmental Issues
This project is designed to achieve the goal of addressing the Litter Issue in Dhaka, through active youth participation. The project involves an educational program including interactive activities such as plogging campaign and upcycling experience, a youth-led project, and a workshop to present their projects. Through this comprehensive process, participants will deepen their understanding of climate change and environmental issues, engage in practical solutions, and grow as youth climate leaders.
Inclusivity and Sustainability of the Project
Considering the educational inequality in Bangladesh, where women have lower educational attainment compared to men, this project prioritizes female participants during the school selection process, maintaining a 2:1 female-to-male ratio. Additionally, the program is designed to be inclusive of both students without and with disabilities, with tailored support provided as needed to ensure accessibility. The active participation of social minorities, including youth, women, and individuals with disabilities, is expected to contribute not only to resolving climate change in Bangladesh but also to addressing social inequalities exacerbated by climate change. The project’ s sustainability will be further ensured through initiatives such as establishing student-led environmental clubs, making policy proposals, and participating in global competitions (YRE Contest). These efforts are expected to create a long-term ripple effect and significant impact on addressing climate and environmental issues in Bangladesh.
This project is anticipated to strengthen the climate resilience of Bangladeshi youth and increase community participation and awareness in solving environmental issues. Moreover, such activities are expected to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 13, Climate Action, while positively impacting Bangladesh’ s sustainable development.
